What I Cover

I work with our teams on episodes that feature original narrative reporting, interviews with influential figures in technology and politics and conversations with Times reporters. I’ve been immersed in a wide variety of topics, including abortion, immigration, generative AI, tech policy, the 2024 presidential election and more.

My Background

I came to The Times as a full-time fact-checker in October 2023. Before that, I worked in the newsroom as a freelancer, fact-checking a number of narrative shows and podcast episodes.

In 2021, I fact-checked “Day X,” the Times’s five-part series about the German far right. I also worked on “The Retrievals,” a Peabody Award–winning series from Serial Productions and The New York Times about what happened when a Yale Fertility Center nurse stole pain medication from the clinic’s patients. I’ve also fact-checked for “This American Life,” among other outlets.

I’m originally from Little Rock, Ark., and I went to college at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. I began my career in journalism as an editor of the Oxford American, a National Magazine Award–winning publication about the American South. In 2016, I left Arkansas to work at The Paris Review and later studied philosophy at the CUNY Graduate Center, where I was interested in questions of objectivity and bias. I live with my spouse in New York City.

Journalistic Ethics

My core objective at The Times is to enhance our readers’ (and listeners’) trust by ensuring that our reporting is accurate and fair. I push our reporters to question how we know what we know, and I follow every fact back to its original source. I work closely with our teams to identify errors before they’re published. If an error is identified after publication, I work with our teams and our Standards editors to issue a timely correction. I abide by the values of the Times’s Ethical Journalism Handbook, and I do not accept gifts or money from any person or group that could figure in our reporting.
